Developed by IUE, CAS and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission (ESCAP)

This tool is based on an urban metabolism approach to better understand resource demands in cities. The methodology and forecasting tool were developed through the ESCAP-led project, Forecasting Sustainable Urbanization, supported by the China-ESCAP Cooperation Programme. Using estimates of population and economic growth, the tool functions based on input of local data to generate forecasts for business-as-usual and alternative scenarios in cities for material use, waste generation, energy consumption, water consumption, and land use based.
